The art museum is housed in a medieval Dominican convent designed in the 15th century by a notable Italian architect Michelozzo, one of the pioneers of Renaissance architecture in Florence.
The extensive collection of artworks contains paintings and frescoes by Renaissance painters Fra Bartolomeo, Domenico Ghirlandaio or Alesso Baldovinetti. There are also works by a Baroque painter Jacopo Vignali or Mannerist artist Bernardino Poccetti.
