Civic Center

The so-called intersection of government, arts, and business, this area contains many of San Francisco's important institutions, including City Hall, War Memorial Opera House and Herbst Theatre, a place where several significant treaties and charters were signed.

The area is definitely worth checking out if you consider yourself a lover of culture and grand architecture - there are some true gems of Classical Architecture to be seen here. Apart from the imposing building, the area also includes two huge plazas - United Nations Plaza and Civic Center Plaza.

It is easily reachable by public transit - Civic Center is served by buses, metro, as well as BART.
