The temple is dedicated to Che Kung, a military commander of the Southern Song dynasty who supposedly rescued the last emperor of the dynasty and helped him escape to the New Territories. The main hall features a statue of the commander.

The historical building has been replaced in 1933 and now worshippers come here during Che Kung’s festival, which takes place as part of the celebrations of Chinese New Year.
