Originally built as a manor house around 1450, this monument historique, inscribed in 2000, is recognized as the smallest Renaissance castle. The structure features an eclectic architectural style resulting from various periods, including the Renaissance, the 17th century, and 19th-century restorations. Notable architectural elements include the Façade François Ier and the Façade Louis XII, named after the French kings. In 2025, the site received the Maison des Illustres label.

The castle is open to the public and remains entirely furnished, providing a historical perspective spanning from the 15th century to the present. The estate is set within an English-style park and includes a formal French garden. The domain also serves as a venue for weddings, receptions, and group workshops.

The premises house the Museum of Sologne, which is dedicated to local agricultural history and regional life. An additional exhibition focuses on 19th-century domesticity, highlighting the historical and cultural significance of the estate.
