The castle is a Victorian architectural folly designed by Calvert Vaux and Jacob Wrey Mould in 1869, located on Vista Rock. It features a distinctive combination of Romanesque and Gothic elements and serves as an observation deck with sweeping views of the park's landscape and the surrounding city.
Housing the Central Park Learning Center and the New York Meteorological Observatory, the structure supports educational programs including bird watching and stargazing.
