One of the oldest churches in Barcelona is simple yet beautiful. The current building dates back to 1342 but it was built on the site of an ancient Christian church. It is believed that it was a pagan place of worship before that.
Since it has a long history, the church is a mixture of many architectural styles. It boasts a beautifully preserved temple and a Gothic chapel with the altar of the Souls in the Purgatory. The altar is a true gem depicting terrified people of all conditions burning for their sins in the afterlife.
