The complex includes notable buildings such as the Saló del Tinell, the Chapel of Saint Agatha, and the Palau del Lloctinent, combining Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles. It served as the residence of the counts of Barcelona and later the kings of Aragón, playing an important role as a royal and political center during the medieval period. Currently part of the Museum of History of Barcelona, it houses exhibitions and archaeological remains that provide insight into the city's medieval past and royal heritage. The site is a designated National Monument recognized for its cultural and historic significance.
