This 280-meter-high forested hill is a National Natural Monument known for its unique geological profile featuring exposed Carboniferous layers and coal seams. Established as a protected area in 1992, the site preserves valuable flora and fauna within a landscape of significant geological and scientific value.

Archaeological evidence indicates human habitation dating back over 30,000 years, including a Paleolithic mammoth hunter settlement. The hill also contains the remains of a Slavic stronghold and the medieval Landek Castle, marking its importance as a historical and archaeological site spanning multiple eras of human history.

The area features the Ostrava Mining Museum, which documents the region's industrial heritage, and a viewpoint tower offering views of the surrounding landscape. The site is open to the public for hiking and exploration, and it includes facilities designated as wheelchair accessible.
