The statue stands 30.1 meters tall and was officially opened in 1931. It is situated at the summit of Corcovado mountain within a national park, providing expansive panoramic views of the surrounding cityscape. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is considered one of the modern Seven Wonders of the World.
Designed in the Art Deco style, the statue was created by sculptor Paul Landowski with engineering contributions from Albert Caquot and facial modeling by Gheorghe Leonida. It serves as both a religious symbol of Christianity and an emblematic monument representing Brazil on a global scale.
The site is accessible for visits and is located inside a protected national park area, integrating natural and cultural heritage. Its artistic and architectural significance, combined with its commanding viewpoint, makes it a landmark of considerable cultural and historical importance.
