Derinkuyu Underground City

From almost 200 cities spread across the entire region, this fascinating underground city from the 7th century BC is the deepest one in Cappadocia.

It consists of eight floors with an extensive network of passages, tunnels, family rooms and communal spaces, where people would not only meet, but also work and worship.

Overall, it extends to almost 60 meters of depth and it could accommodate as many as 20.000 people. A definite must see!
