This historic windmill measures 26.6 meters in height, making it the tallest wooden windmill in the Netherlands. Originally built in the 16th century, it served as a corn mill and was a key part of Dutch milling activities from the 17th to the 19th century. The structure features a stone base topped with an octagonal wooden body, exemplifying traditional Dutch windmill architecture.
Designated as a national monument, the windmill retains its cultural and historical significance despite not being open to the public. Adjacent to the windmill is Brouwerij 't IJ, a brewery located in a repurposed former public bath building, contributing to the site's cultural landscape. The windmill remains a prominent architectural and historical landmark within the urban setting.
