This 16th-century palace was designed in Spanish Renaissance style by an outstanding architect Juan de Herrera, the designer of residences El Escorial and Royal Palace of Aranjuez.
The palace used to be the ancient merchants' exchange and archive of the Council of the Indies consisting of documents regarding the exploration of the Americas.
