This church was designed by architects Tuomo Suomalainen and Timo Suomalainen and completed in 1969. Its architecture features natural rock walls carved from solid bedrock, topped with a large copper dome that allows natural light to fill the interior. The design creates exceptional acoustics, making it a renowned concert venue in addition to its religious functions.

The building exemplifies modern architecture integrated with natural elements, showcasing a unique blend of raw rock surfaces and contemporary construction. It is wheelchair accessible and includes public toilets, supporting accessibility and visitor convenience. The church remains a significant cultural landmark due to its architectural innovation and its dual role for worship and music performances.
