The Sanctuary of Christ the King is a monumental Catholic shrine dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It features a large statue standing 28 meters tall and was designed in a modern architectural style by António Lino. The monument was inaugurated in 1959 as a symbol of gratitude following World War II.
The site includes a scenic terrace and lookout points offering panoramic views of Lisbon, the Tagus River, and the 25 de Abril Bridge. It serves as both a religious shrine and a cultural landmark with historical significance.
Religious services and spiritual experiences are held within the sanctuary, which also houses religious relics and facilities for pilgrims. Guided tours are available to explore the monument's history, architectural features, and spiritual importance.
