Commissioned in 1444 by Cosimo the Elder and designed by Michelozzo, the palace served as the Medici family's residence during the Renaissance. It exemplifies Renaissance architecture and contains significant frescoes and artworks, including the Chapel of the Magi by Benozzo Gozzoli and Filippo Lippi’s Madonna with Child. The building now functions as a museum and administrative centre, preserving historical and artistic collections that highlight Florence's Renaissance heritage. The palace also features the Baroque Gallery of Mirrors, adding to its artistic and cultural importance.
