Constructed beginning in 1152, the baptistery showcases a blend of Romanesque and Gothic architecture with a distinctive dome. It houses significant Renaissance artworks and sculptures by notable architects and artists including Nicola Pisano, Giovanni Pisano, Diotisalvi, and Cellino di Nese. Recognized as the largest baptistery in Italy, the building is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and exemplifies medieval and Italian Renaissance art and architecture. The baptistery is wheelchair accessible and notable for its remarkable acoustics that enhance the experience of its interior space.
