Adjoining the Westminster Abbey, the church was built at the beginning of the 12th century so that the locals have a place where they can pray without disturbing the Monks in the Abbey. It was demolished in the 14th century but restored several times since then.
The church features 16th-century windows and an early 19th-century organ. Together with the Houses of Parliament and the Westminster Abbey, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987.
