The market hall covers an area of 9,124 square meters and was officially opened in November 1928, following its inception in 1914. It is a notable example of Valencian Art Nouveau and eclectic architecture, designed by architects Francesc Guàrdia i Vial, Alexandre Soler i March, Enric Viedma i Vidal, and Ángel Romaní Verdeguer. Recognized as a National Monument, the building is distinguished by its modernist style and intricate decorative details.
Inside, more than 200 stalls offer a wide variety of fresh products including fish, seafood, fruits, and meats, reflecting the traditional market culture. The market serves as both a commercial space and an architectural landmark, showcasing the region's culinary heritage within its historic setting.
The market remains open to the public, providing direct access to fresh local produce and seafood in an environment that combines cultural heritage with daily commerce.
