The oldest square in Copenhagen used to be a very busy place with political gatherings and a meat market where farmers from nearby villages sold pork, poultry or eggs. The vegetable was sold at the neighboring Amagertorv market. There are quite a few notable buildings, mostly fine examples of Neoclassical style.
