Commonly referred to by its local name, Stephansdom, this spectacular 12th-century cathedral is one of the most important churches in the city. It now serves as the seat of the Archbishop of Vienna and many Habsburg family members and other notable people are buried here.

Once done admiring the splendid Gothic exterior featuring a marvelously decorated roof, you should definitely hop inside and marvel at the size and decor of this church. Do not miss some of the highlights including several small chapels, 18 historical altars and the pulpit adorned with exquisite sculptures.

For a small fee, you can access one of the towers. Upon climbing up 343 steps, you will be rewarded with a spectacular view of the whole city. You can also take a guided tour that will guide you through the interior of the church and inform you about the history of this place. As a part of this tour, you will also access the catacombs, the treasury, and get to both of the church's towers.
