Built between 1926 and 1928, this Art Deco stadium was designed by Richard Konwiarz, who received an Olympic medal for the project. Despite its name, the venue has never hosted an Olympic event. It is designated as an architectural heritage monument and forms the central part of a larger sports complex. Historically, the site hosted significant sporting events in the 1930s and has undergone several name changes and reconstructions over the decades.

Significant modernization took place between 2015 and 2017 to improve safety and usability, specifically for The World Games 2017. The stadium currently has a capacity of between 11,000 and 13,655 spectators. The facility features infrastructure suited for high-level international competitions and serves as a multifunctional sports venue.

The stadium is the home field for the Wrocław Panthers American football team and the Sparta Wrocław speedway club. In addition to speedway and American football, the venue is used for soccer matches and athletic competitions. It remains a primary site for speedway championships and other professional sporting events.
