Maruyama Park

Kyoto's most popular spot for cherry blossom viewing. The most famous place in the park is the Shidarezakura (weeping cherry tree), which gets lit up at night and people often come here for a romantic walk or to take pictures.

Do not miss out on this place during other times of the year, either. The second most favourite period to visit it is New Year's Eve when celebrations take over and everyone comes here to have fun, listen to performances, drink various beverages and enjoy street food.

This place is perfect for when you are a traveller on a budget and you want to find a place to relax and enjoy authentic Japanese atmosphere, often complemented by street musicians, dressed in traditional clothing, playing the flute and other instruments.
