The building was originally opened in 1898 and designed by A. Page Brown in the Beaux-Arts architectural style. It features a prominent clock tower and is designated as a landmark. Renovated into a vibrant marketplace, it houses a food hall, various shops, and office spaces.
It serves as a busy ferry terminal at the end of Market Street, functioning as a passenger ship terminal and public transport hub. The marketplace includes a renowned farmers market and offers a wide range of local products and food vendors, emphasizing local cuisine and artisan goods.
The site combines historical architecture with modern uses, integrating a shopping mall and dining district within the original terminal structure. Its location on the waterfront provides scenic views of the bay, enhancing its role as both a transportation stop and cultural destination.
