This is the place where musical miracles happened. Mozart wrote his opera The Marriage of Figaro here, and also three out of six Haydn Quartets. This museum mainly focuses on his work. Apart from the interior, you will get to see his letters and other items from his private life.

It is the biggest and the most expensive house Mozart ever resided in. It is also the only still-intact one. Among others, you will have the chance to see a striking clock that plays Andante for a Cylinder in a Small Organ.

The house was completely renovated and prepared for tourists in 2006, just in time for the 250th anniversary of his birth. Although it does not contain the genuine furniture Mozart used to have, it is furnished according to that time period. In the first three years of its renovation, it already had 340 000 visitors. The basement of this house is a venue for frequent events co-financed by the EU.

In case you're dressed warmly, you should take the opportunity to use the wardrobe that the museum provides, because the temperature inside is relatively high. Prepare yourself for a lot of reading, because the audio guide does not include some of the exhibits.
