The basilica is an 18th-century neoclassical church designed by José da Costa e Silva, combining baroque and neoclassical architectural elements. Recognized as a national monument, the basilica was the first church building dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus worldwide. It features a large nativity scene and artistic interior details reflecting religious devotion and cultural heritage. The terrace provides panoramic views, enhancing its architectural significance.
